Dannnnnng!!! That fight…was AWESOME!!!!!
Dude STFU your so dumb

Dannnnnng!!! That fight…was HORRIBLE!!!!!
First of all, there was no fighting mechanics, what, like a single punch and a spirit gun, then a spirit gun that finished it, wow what a match(Sarcasm)The punch barrage eariler was just flashy fists, nothing good. Half the fight was killing the crowd and powering up, but Toguro’s tumbling was awesome. Plus, all of Toguros hits were just random punches while Yusuke was punching him, not stragaty or tactics. I realise posting it on this site has no point, the episode is made and can’t be changed, but hey. This fight reminded me of Goku vs. Freeza, but then I thought about it and it has everything in common with Gohan vs. Cell. Gohan trained with Goku, then Goku fought Cell and lost (although he did die that was later on) Yusuke trained with Genkai(reciving the spirit orb), then Genkai fought Touro(and died). The fresh from training Gohan fought with Cell in the final match of the tornament….The spirit orb-powered Yusuke fought with Toguro in the final match. Cell was winning at first, so was Toguro. Yusuke did the spirit chains trick and Toguro powered up more, which was a bit different, but not too different. Cell wanted to fight a strong opponent so the whole match he was just trying to get Gohan mad instead of killing him, just like Toguro, first attacing the crowd (with the Cell Jr.) then killing one of Gohan’s friends by hand (Android 16). Although Gohan got angry and Yusuke was despairing instead of changing his sadness into anger like most people do. Then Gohan did a great combo and killed him (Cell did the whole self destruct thing too)and Yusuke did the whole punch spirit gun. Toguro went full power, Cell got even stronger, then he did Final Kamehameha and Yusuke did Spirit Gun and bang, match over. Well thats my review anyway.
Nice review
Your review isn’t even a review. It’s just this long, crass, and wholly inaccurate parable towards DBZ. And on top of that, you really just shoe-horned a bunch of facts in.
YYH’s core entertainment values comes solely from one thing and one thing only: Characters.
Sure, the fights are kickass, the music is top-notch, and the animation (post Season 1) is fantastic, but even then, the show boils down to the characters. This fight in particular was all about character development on Toguro’s and Yusuke’s side. I can say for sure I got quite emotional and choked up during this fight (which only lasted four episodes) because of the impetuous story arcs established for both characters. Don’t ever take this YYH fight at face-value; the level of poignancy goes deeper than your shallow and puerile mind can wrap around.
The fact that you didn’t even empathize with Kuwabara’s death obviously means you don’t have the ability to grasp the more sympathetic qualities of the characters, nor relate to them on any emotional wavelength at all. Word.
First this show came out when dragon ball was on.Vegeta weak copy of Hei.Hei is enemy of the hero in the first season hes defeated and gets soft and joins the hero.Hei gets more chacater developement in 112 episodes than
Vegeta gets in dbz and dbgt and your comparing this fight to cell vs gohan ha every time some one dies in dbz
they get brought back with the dragon balls it gets old.
First off, the shows name is dragon ball, so yeah they are going to be used to bring back characters that have died in the show. it lasted for pretty much a decade so they needed it. Next, this show has its nice fights but variety was not one of them. one episode to get yusuke’s power to show is a bit much, I always hated the dbz fights that did that. Hiei=vegeta(easy enough to see), Gohan’s fight with cell=shit. Gohan’s power up compared to everyone else’s=epic win. Gohan’s fight with cell jrs.=best fight in any anime.
Uh…I hope you realize that Dragon Ball Z started in 1989, a whole yea before Yu Yu Hakusho. By the time Vegeta became one of the “good” guys, Hiei was still a villain. get your facts straight. Vegeta’s first appearance was before Yu Yu Hakusho even started
You know your review didn’t make any complete sense. I did not get it a single bit. And you totally went of topic talking about Dragon Balls. I don’t mind critical reviews, but yours didn’t make sense and was annoying.
episode does not play past 5:55 if someone could fix please
wow nvm guess it works now sorry =|
I noticed the frieza and cell similarities as well… I was like man this isnt dbz its yyh.
Hmmm. Not sure if this was a classic to be appreciated back during its time, but I wasn’t that impressed, nor hooked. It just drew on WAYYYY too long.. And as people said above.. yeah dBZ style… charging up.. staring… talking… then fight for like a second.
What you simple minded fools need to remember is that this episode is beyond the mediocrity of punches or fancy techniques. This episode is about the emotion and the epiphany of both Yusuke and Toguro. If you stupidly compare this to DBZ then, you sir/madam, deserve a slap. An e-slap! You fail to grasp the depth of the emotions and feelings that ooze out of this episode. I cannot believe that you did not have enough with the many awesome fights before the fight with Toguro. This final battle is all about Yusuke admitting to himself that he was ALWAYS holding back and needed to break down those barriers he setup himself.
If Yusuke was ‘always’ holding back, why did he dip into his DAMN LIFE ENERGY that would essentially kill him to defeat Suzaku? That’s about as much ‘giving it your all’ as you can get. Sure, it’s better than DBZ, no arguing that, but come on. This is far from well written.
There are waaay too many arbitrary things about this entire arc that just ruin everything. It’s a mostly filler piece of junk, which really bums me out. Because YYH was really great before this Dark Tournament.
I agree with Sephrin. There is much more emotion and depth in the fights that take place in Yu Yu Hakusho versus DBZ. I don’t think anyone from DBZ has the caliber of tactics/strategies that Kurama utilizes in all his fights, or the preciseness and mercilessness of Hiei. Their fights with Karasu and Bui alone puts DBZ to shame when it comes to fighting.
&& By the time Yusuke and Toguro took the spotlight, I just wanted Toguro gone– And I like how Yusuke ended it with his spirit gun. It’s his trademark.
IDK If its me but I thought he said he has 3 other fingers once before this. I thought he learned to shoot with his other fingers.
In a different fight, he said he had three left after shooting the Spirit Gun once, and held up the other three fingers with blue glowing at the tips. I don’t think it matters which finger he uses, but the index is most natural. He was just saying he can shoot it four times a day regularly. Also, in the Saint Beast saga, he jokingly told Kuwabara that the strength of his Spirit Gun depended on which finger he used, while flipping Kuwabara off, haha.
Yusuke also has the Shotgun, which comes from his whole fist, so basically all of his fingers.
Actually, think of his hand as a revolver. showing the 3 other blasts is essentially the same as flipping open the barrel to see how many live rounds you have left. Though i don’t doubt he could use other fingers, the index, being anatomically lined up with the arm how it is, is meant to feel more like an extention of your arm and self, not just a focusing point.
This show is about the spiritual power that channels through emotions. The more emotional you are they stronger you get, LIFE ON THE LINE WITH THE BATCHEET!
you do know that DBZ was made after this show right?
@ all the people who are comparing this fight to dragon ball z……
Dragon ball Z will drag on a fight for 7 episodes if not more! This episode was what 4, with a storyline ending with Tugoro finding peace. yes the last episode was mainly talk, but it brought out the final key to unlocking Yuskay’s (spelled wrong) power.
You are talking apples to oranges. Dragon ball Z was more based on power. Yu Yu has plot, not to mention better fight scenes. You could watch DBZ and see thousands of lines that represents fist moving so fast. Or you could see 4 punches that pack a wallop.
I like both shows equally, but on a fight scale i prefer Yu Yu far better then DBZ.
Despite myself I have to agree the Cell Games and The Dark Tournament endings are strikingly similar. Also to the Jackass who said that Yu Yu Hakusho was before DBZ’s time, the Manga was after DBZ.
The comments keep getting cut off for me, can’t see what some people are saying, anyone know why?
everybody who said this show is better than dbz is wrong in my opinion. The plot may be better but everything else is on a totally different level. I personaly like dbz characters better the fight scenes are nothing less than a epic legend.
LMFAO dude…no one gives a pickle about your critique x3 this is a YUYU HAKUSHO dedicated site…the only people who really come on here are fans…or at least I would hope so seeing as YuYu Hakusho is a really old anime and if you don’t know about it yet you’re a noob…
Guys Just don’t forget the audience these shows were meant for…
Yu Yu hakusho wasn’t honestly meant for children, so ofcourse it’s going to need a plot.
But dragonballz is Definitely made for children and children don’t have the attention span for story… and sure enough they don’t notice how repetitive dbz fighting is.
the first 4shared video is busted it needs to be fixed
Quick! Everyone grab the jewels that Yukina just made!
STFU about DBZ im trying to watch Yu Yu Hakusho!
ditto
this came out before dbz so stfu
It actually didnt.
I feel like Kuwabara’s death could’ve been played up a bit more. And Yusuke’s power increase could’ve been better displayed. All in all it was a decent end but a bit too wizz-bang to do justice to the end of one of the best arcs of any anime I’ve seen yet. I would’ve liked it if Yusuke had kept Toguro alive and wished that he be turned into a human so he could age to death. That would’ve shown his fraidy cat, running from time, power hungry ass.
lol, agreed.
Who wears short shorts? Toguro wears short shorts!
I haven’t seen the episodes after this yet (I’m a little late getting started in Yu Yu Hakusho!) so I dunno if Toguro comes back, but I was actually hoping he would lose his demon powers and become an old man and get back with Genkai….I know that sounds weird but I just think they would go good together! It touched my heart whenever they would explain their history together (‘:
