Episode Summary

Hey Youarearealmoron, You ought to check shit out before u call people dumb! Dragonball started in 1989 an YU YU in 94! The comics of DB started in early 80′s an YU YU in early 90′s! Oh, by the way son Goku first appeared in Japanese folk lore as a story about a bad monkey, Predating YU YU by a hundred years or so! So, dosomefuckingresearch dumb-ass!
actually journey to the west, which goku and early dragonball was based on was written in the 1500′s pre-dating yu yu hakusho by around 490 years or so, but you are correct that the manga was published 1984-1995 (DB/DBZ) 1990-1994 (yu yu hakusho)anime 1985-1996 (DB/DBZ) 1992-1995 (yu yu hakusho) I didn’t include DBGT because it wasn’t manga or anything to do with toriyama, thus DB pre-dates yu yu hakusho in every respect.

dragon ball wasnt originally like this. it was about “aliens” coming to earth and goku having a tail and yada yada yada then it progressed into dbz.
next thing this show and dbz are made and owned by the same company. therefore not ripping it off. merely having a different spin on it. instead of being about aliens attacking the earth called sayians. they have their own world and they are demons in this. sogofuckyourself buddy

yu yu hakusho is 112 episodes with no fillers at all, honestly there were so many in dbz that i couldn’t even enjoy it lol there both great anime but in my opinion i think yu yu hakusho is more badass with better character personalities
I have to agree with orlando. Character definition is very prominent in yu yu hakusho. They really gave each and everyone a pretty detailed background. Everyone, please try to enjoy the episodes instead of bitching about them. If you don’t like the quality, buy the dvds. If you don’t like the show then don’t watch it. Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one and most people don’t want to hear them.

Why do american geeks automatically think that something always has to be a ripoff of something else? Why can’t it just be inspiration or influence? Why do you always have to compare one anime to another? Just shut up and enjoy the creativity, the artwork, the storyline and how in depth the backgrounds of the Yu Yu Hakusho characters are. The creator/writer obviously went through a great deal of musing and research to come up with this. Enjoy and appreciate it, or don’t watch it at all if you have such a big problem with it.

I dont know why people fight over dbz and yu yu i watched dbz when i was a kid and never had the chance to what this show but now that i do having seen every dbz and where i am thus far here They are completely different with very few similarities. And I’m enjoying the difference too because yera is very unique in many ways and the story line and the way he portrays himself is classic and many can relate to I don’t think Goku had that he is more hero type win or die while yera is catch phrase and come through kick ass so yea thats my speal

Ill admit this scenario is similar to that of goku fighting freeza.However With that being said, i dont think there is any merit to saying yu yu hakusho is a ripoff of dragonball Z. The two have completely different stories, Goku protects earth from extraterrestrial beings and robots for example, as where Yusuke stops beings from a parallel fucking dimension from invading the earth. Just because both protagonists transform to become more powerful doesnt make them the same in any way shape or form, literally. In addition to that there are many other anime with transforming characters,its actually a pretty common motif, so i dont see why so many people read into these occurrences being ripoffs off of dragonball z.
